My trip to Yale ✈️
I boarded the plane, and when it took off, I realized for the first time what I was about to do: go to the USA, alone, to study at one of the biggest universities in the world, for 5 weeks nonstop. I have traveled a lot in my life and to many exotic and foreign places. But this trip is different: it's the first time that I'm alone this far from my family and for such a long time. Not gonna lie, I was terrified at first. But I don't know why, when I board that plane, I was sure everything was going to be fine, and that I just had to go with the flow.
At least it was what I thought. 😂 Let's just say that when I arrived at JFK, my dream of an easy and "flowy" trip shattered. First of all, after 8 hours of flight, I had to wait an hour and a half to go through the customs. Then, when I finally went through it, I had to find my shuttle which was harder than expected. Once I found the spot where it was supposed to pick me up, I waited there for 20 minutes. Then a shuttle came but the driver wouldn't let me in. I was confused and he didn't want to explain why I couldn't go in. So he left me kinda stressed on the sidewalk. By chance, I met Mathilde, another French girl who was also going to Yale, and who also got refused by the shuttle driver. It was nice to know that I wasn't alone in this messy situation.
Anyway, another shuttle came and accepted us. The trip from JFK to Yale took us 2 hours because of a car crash and then I finally arrived at the Yale Campus, or Yale City should I say since it's so big. The check-in process went smoothly, we had an orientation meeting about how to "use" the campus and its facilities, and then I was finally settled in my new environment for the next 5 weeks! After ALL of this, I finally went to bed after this exhausting trip.
